Summer is an exciting season for us at Party Rental Ltd., because we get to help bring several different events to life in the Hamptons, including dinner parties, weddings, and equestrian competitions.  (Yes, you read that correctly — equestrian competitions!)  For over 15 years, we’ve been an integral part of the prestigious Hampton Classic, a weeklong equestrian event that hosts more than 100 classes of competition — awarding close to $700,000 in prize money. The event features a shopping boutique, family activities, concessions, extravagant table designs and high-profile guests.
As the exclusive rental company, we provided over 4,000 chairs, 500 tables, thousands of glasses, chinaware, silverware, and all the cooking & catering equipment used to serve thousands of guests over the course of the week.
Since there’s no competitive class for hippos (yet!), we get to be a part of a different exciting competition, just outside the Grand Prix Ring.  On the final day of the event — Grand Prix Sunday — local judges award yellow, red, and blue ribbons to the top three tabletop designs in the VIP tent, where hosts elaborately decorate their tables.  Using props, floral, personal items, and our rental products, the hosts display cutting-edge designs, each as stunning as the next and all competing for that coveted blue ribbon.
“One of the most fun parts for us is helping clients design their tables,” says Relationship Manager Linda Vacey. “Some clients request designs based around a particular color scheme, like logos or barn colors, others bring in horse-related props, and we love coming up with unique looks year after year.  We’re able to be creative and showcase the newest and best Party Rental Ltd. has to offer.”
By proudly partnering with Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs over the years, we’ve learned the ins-and-outs of the Hampton Classic and how to make it a great success. Division Manager Laura Thorne says, “We truly have the event production and processing down to a science.  Our local office handles most of the highly designed tables for the run of the show, particularly for Grand Prix Sunday.  We keep track of who has ordered what to ensure no two tables share the same linen or design element that has already been chosen.”  How do we do it?  Linda explains, “We sit down with a floor plan of the VIP tent and mark where the different designs are going as the orders are placed.”
If you’ve got your heart set on a special linen or look, the best advice our Hamptons team gave is, “Place your orders early!” Laura says, “It’s not unusual for clients to show up at our showroom in May to choose the design for their Grand Prix Sunday table in September.”  Relationship Manager Tase McCulley adds, “I have two clients that start their design process very early in April.  They both ask the same questions — what’s new and has anyone else come in yet?”
Hosting & decorating a table for the first time can be a bit daunting, but our Hamptons team is happy to help.  Linda says, “Each year we have a few new clients that we walk through the entire process, so they have a more enjoyable experience.”  And if you have a last minute question the morning of Grand Prix Sunday?  Linda says, “Tase and I are always on-site to help out during the mad dash between 8-11 A.M.!”
At Party Rental Ltd. we don’t have favorites when it comes to sports, we’re fans of Tennis, like the US Open Championship, Golfing tournaments like Barclays, Soccer, Baseball, Football and more! Our team colors are pink (of course) regardless of the sporting events we partner with.
