Remembering Sunny and Fighting for a Cure: Gary Halperin Rides Again for Cycle for Survival

Cycle For Survival

Sunny Halperin, our beloved Co-Founder, was a force of nature. Her generosity, unwavering kindness, and pioneering spirit touched countless lives. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sunny was a true leader who inspired everyone around her.

In 2014, we received the sad news of Sunny’s Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Though she fought valiantly, she passed away in January 2016. To honor Sunny’s memory and carry on her legacy of giving, our Chief Operating Officer, Gary Halperin, will once again join the fight against rare cancers by riding in Cycle for Survival.

Cycle for Survival: A Powerful Force for Change

Founded in 2007, Cycle for Survival is an indoor team cycling event that unites riders and supporters in a collective effort to conquer rare cancers. Partnering with Equinox Fitness, this inspiring initiative channels 100% of its fundraising efforts directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to support groundbreaking research.

Since its inception, Cycle for Survival has made significant strides in advancing rare cancer treatments. With over $200 million raised to date, the program has fueled over 120 clinical trials and research studies, leading to life-changing discoveries and improved patient outcomes.

Riding for a Brighter Future

“Every day, I think about my mom and the countless others facing this devastating disease,” shares Gary. “I’m driven to make a difference and ensure that future generations have access to better treatments and ultimately, a cure.”

On February 1st, Gary will once again join the Tiny Terror Squad and ride in honor of Sunny’s memory.
