Tech Talk: Top 3 Cart “Hacks” to Save You Time

Your time is your most precious (and fleeting) resource. When we created our website, we set out to give you all the tools, information, and features you’d need to help you place and manage your orders quickly and easily, giving you more time to check off the items on your to-do list and even schedule some well-earned me-time.

While you may be familiar with online shopping carts, we added some unique features to ours to help you stay organized and save time when placing your orders. Here are three Cart “Hacks” that will help you get the most out of our Cart feature and help you save time.

Pro-tip: Be sure you’re logged into your account to take advantage of all the exclusive time-saving features. Don’t have an account? Register to get started.

Cart Hack #1: Quick Add

When we redesigned our website, we created a beautiful, comprehensive, easy-to-shop product catalog to help you choose the perfect products for your events. If you already know what products you’ll need, however, we created a feature just for you: Quick Add!

When working in your Cart, you’ll find Quick Add in the top right corner of the screen. There, you can type in the name of the product you’d like to add, specify quantity, choose any Add-On’s, and add right to cart from there. That way, you can quickly enter the items you need without having to click through the website. Easy!

Cart Hack #2:  Cart Organization

Stay organized from the beginning and easily enter multi-part orders with our Cart Organization features. By assigning Drop Zones, Tags, and Labels to each of the items in your cart, you can quickly and easily organize your product list and make sure you have everything you need for a successful event.

Designate Drop Zones to your order to specify where you would like each item to be placed at your event site. If you’d like the Reception Chairs to go to the Ballroom but Serving Trays to go to the Kitchen, you can specify that here. Drop Zones are communicated to your delivery team to help your drop-off run smoothly.

Tags are an organizational feature that you can view both in your Carts and in your Orders. You can use Tags to note what the purpose of each item, organize your list of items, and ensure you have all the pieces you need. This can especially be helpful if you’re ordering multiple sets of the same product for different purposes — for example, if you’re ordering two sets of Salad/Cake plates, you can use the Tags to note that one set is for the First Course and one set is for Dessert.

To set your Drop Zones and Tags, scroll to the bottom of your Cart and expand the “Manage Drop Zones and Tags” box. There, you can add or remove each — be sure to click “Save” to apply the changes!

Lastly, you can use Notes/Labels to even further organize your Cart. Here, you can leave notes for yourself about how or when a product will be used. While this is mainly a feature for you, some Notes/Labels may be printed on the stickers that are placed on your items before delivery. You can view the Note/Label information for a particular product by clicking the “Expand” arrows next to the product name or by clicking “Expand All” at the top of your cart.

Cart Hack #3: Using Carts as Templates

While each and every event is unique, many events have similar rental needs from event to event — for example, you might know you always need Ice Tubs, Ice Scoops, and Wine Glasses for each of your orders for a Cocktail Party. If there are certain “templates” that you use for your events, you can create these “templates” as Carts that are saved in your account. (Remember: you must be logged in to your account to use this feature.)

To do this, create a new Cart, give the cart a unique, identifiable name (e.g. Cocktail Party Template), and set the Event Date for your Cart a year or two in the future — this is to keep your cart from expiring, and you can change this date later. Once your Cart is created, add your items.

When you’re ready to create a new Cart for an upcoming event from your “template,” scroll to the bottom of that Cart “template” and click “Copy & Create a New Cart.” That will duplicate the cart “template” and take you to the new Cart for your upcoming event. Give the new Cart a unique name (e.g. Smith Cocktail Party), set the Event Date for the Cart to the upcoming event date, review the Cart, and make any changes to the cart as needed. When you’re ready to turn your Cart into an order, you can proceed to Checkout from here.
